NEW R&D – Centre for New Energy Technologies, S.A.

Centre for New Energy Technologies (CNET) is a joint initiative between EDP and CTG focused on Research and Development, mutual technical assistance and joint participation in international projects, composed of a team with a vast knowledge in the energy sector. CNET’s projects, mainly under the scope of EU’s Horizon 2020 R&D framework program, converge into 4 priority areas for both shareholders: Energy Storage and Energy Management, Smart Grids, Flexibility of Hydro and Thermal Assets and Offshore Wind. Its distinctive infrastructures, from a distribution grid with Smart Grid deployment, conceived within the scope of InovGrid, to laboratorial facilities, enabled its active participation in several European Projects since its inauguration, in 2014.

CNET is the lead beneficiary of the Work Package 1, which concerns the detailed definition of the scope of the 3 demonstrators, by elaborating an in-depth list of use cases and the system architecture, adopting existing standards. Through its experience attained from the participation in other projects, CNET is incumbent to develop an implementation plan for each demonstration site, contemplating the previously defined goals; to provide substantial support to the Work Packages related to the Portuguese demonstration site and the Grid and Market Hub Platform; to assist its partners in carrying out the needed a posteriori analysis and to contribute to the project dissemination.
