SIM develops the Citizen Communication Platform, a local social networking service for sustainable communities, aimed at engaging citizens around local community issues. The platform blends the digital and physical spheres, and thereby enables behavioural demand response mechanisms, in a more natural context. SIM has an organization and expertise to setup local community groups, establish partnerships with local service providers, shops, and municipalities, engage local content providers in terms of news and events, and maintaining a reward structure.
LocalLife’s role is to provide the infrastructure for the local social network, aimed at overcoming the citizen engagement barrier in smart grids. This work will be conducted mainly from WP5 in the Stockholm demonstrator by providing infrastructure and setting up a local social networking service. Furthermore, SIMAB will be managing the process of ensuring that a new neighbourhood organization emerges. Lastly, SIMAB will manage the various legal aspects related to this intervention measure and the corresponding data management.
